Neck Lift

A neck lift is actually a set of procedures used to enhance the appearance of your neck.  A Cervicoplasty is a procedure to remove the excess skin off the neck.  A platysmaplasty removes or alters the neck muscles.  Neck liposuction may also be performed to remove excess fat of the neck.

To correct weakened or loose neck muscles you may need a plastysmaplasty which requires an incision under the chin and/or behind the ears to access the plastysma (neck muscle) to manipulate it accordingly.  It sometimes requires removal of some of the neck muscle or permanent sutures to hold the tissue in place. Just like the platysmaplasty, Dr. Crofts will make similar incisions for a cervicoplasty, trimming parts of the skin and lifting it into place.  It will be secured with tissue glue or stitches. The cervicoplasty can be completed in about two to four hours depending on the complexity of your procedure.  During liposuction, Dr. Crofts will make a small incision below the chin and remove the excess fat.

Immediately after surgery you can expect swelling of the neck and face and some discoloration. The discoloration will be noticeable on the second and third days and diminishes in approximately 12 days.  A stretchy bandage is in place about the head and neck. This needs to be worn night and day for 2 weeks then just at night for an additional 6 weeks.
