Towards the end of this year, I feel the “thank you” mood filing my tank. It would be sinful not to let you know how grateful I am, as a parent, for that special touch you have on my daughter. On the one hand, I would have rather not met you under the present circumstances, but on the other hand you have been such a great influence on my daughters healing process it is a blessing to have me you! The way you motivate her has helped her work through pain and boredom. Lately you have given her hope to compete again. Her first question after her first round of surgeries was if she could compete again. Her first tears at the hospital were because of the realization that her glory days were over. Somehow you gave her a new vision. She can see, through your confidence in her, that it is possible to compete again and keep the sweet taste of victory on her lips, if that is her dream. That has changed her attitude a lot. She is more compliant with her therapies and doctors’ instructions, and your name has become my magic, her knee bends more, the food gets eaten, her homework completed and above al she smiles at the sound of your name.
I am so thankful that your doctoring goes beyond the limits of helping heal the physical body. I was quite concerned about her emotional state, especially those hospital days when the pain was so intense that she prayed to die. But you would visit her just at the right time, and tell her what she needed to hear, even just lazy talk helped her so much…not to mention Captain Jack Sparrow’s visit. You recharged her with every one of you visits, gave her hope through your text message and made her laugh. You are awesome! My daughter copes better with her situation thanks to your random crazy method of caring for teens, she knows you will do more for her than the expected, she knows you will do more for her than the expected, she knows you will be there for her any time and any day, she is very motivated to get better because of your words of encouragement, and spiritual uplifting, she knows that with your help she can return to the competition floor, and best of all, she finds humor under your care. Thank you so much.
Her friends tease her about her new face; they say that she is prettier now than before the accident. Indeed you did a magnificent job on her face and leg. It is fascination to think that your signature, your work of art, your most awesome detailed job will be engraved on her body for the rest of her life. Her scars will remind her of your unique caring touch. I hope that she can follow the good example you have given her, and like you always go beyond the limits of the unexpected. After leaving your office today – I wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciate you. Thank you for listening to me…I know you’re the best, most skilled and qualified. I’d fly across the ocean to have you as my surgeon. I hope you understand I’m not disappointed with your work – my body will never be the “ideal” that I see around me. I had a doctor (family physician) tell me a few years ago that I don’t h have a super – model body. I knew it and I know it today. I work so hard at the gym to be healthy and fit.
